Master Builders Released the Following Update
The Master Builders released the following update today on the new changes to the shift provisions of the Building and Construction General Onsite Award
*CHANGES TO SHIFT DEFINITIONS ***
The General Construction shift provisions of the Building and Construction General Onsite Award have traditionally had a gap in shift definitions so that work that started between 11pm and 4.30am was not defined as a shift. This gap was closed in July 2020.
Any ordinary hours shift starting on or after 11pm and before 4.30am is now defined as an early morning shift and attracts a 50% penalty. This definition of a shift also means that for less than 5 shifts in a row, Monday to Friday, penalty rates are payable for all hours.
Overtime before a normal shift is still possible in the normal manner.
